The 3 Most Overused Beauty Products

The 3 Most Overused Beauty Products

In most aspects of life, the old adage that there can be “too much of a good thing” holds true. It’s true about food, fun, and it also happens to be true about the makeup that you use. While having the right touch and the proper balance of products can make a visually stunning appearance, it’s also quite easy to overdo it and throw the whole look out of whack. Fortunately, we sought the help of the skincare and beauty researchers at Adore Cosmetics. They have the scoop on the makeup products it’s easy to use too much of, and also some advice on the right way to approach the products.

#1 Foundation
As the basis for all of the makeup that you put on your face, it’s understandable that you’d want to get the foundation right. Unfortunately, it’s also one product that’s frequently overdone. One common foundation mistake is the urge to apply it to every part of the face. In reality, just the problem areas around the mouth, cheeks, and eyes are usually in need of the foundation. There’s also an inclination to pick a shade that’s too dark. Instead, opt for a natural foundation that’s as close to your skin tone as possible.

#2 Lipstick
It’s okay to go big and bold with lipstick, but it has its time and place. For one, if the outfit you’re wearing is already colorful and eye-catching, it might be a better choice to tone back the lipstick a few shades. The same is true if another part of your makeup, such as the eyes, are big and bold, as well. It’s best to only have one highlight at a time.

#3 Eye Shadow
This is another area where the same adage as discussed with lipstick holds true. Dark, smoky eyes certainly have their place with the right outfit, but if they’re paired with bright red lips and pink cheeks, the whole effect can be overkill. It’s also a common problem to extend eye shadow too far above and below the eyes. Keeping the look in check close to the eye is usually the way to go.
