Working at home is a dream for most people. They’d willingly give up their day job if they were presented with the opportunity to work from the comforts of their own home. Taking the long commute to work will then become a thing of the past.
People are under the impression that when one works at home, he or she “works in her pajamas”. While home workers do have that option, it’s not all that advisable.
Fact is, what we wear and how we look still does influence how we work. Imagine, if you did work in your PJs, you might sooner or later feel drowsy and head off back to sleep. On the other hand, whenever you wear your sharpest corporate ensemble, you naturally feel more professional and ready to take on the responsibilities of the job.
If you’re a work at home mom, it would still be nice if you could fix your hair and put on something presentable. Virtual workers sometimes have to face their clients over the webcam, and you don’t want them to think that you’re a slob, right?
As a blogger, I do try to dress up as if I was going to work. It helps put me in a “work” mindset. Probably, that’s why the Fairy Hobmother has rewarded my hardwork by giving me an Amazon gift card which I plan to use to buy a new washing machine. Maybe he noticed that new eyeliner I wore the other day…
