Summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t jet off for a holiday this autumn. While the weather in the UK may be taking a turn for the worse, there are plenty of overseas destinations that can guarantee sunshine and beautiful temperatures to prolong your summer sun.
What you pack in your suitcase depends largely on where you choose to go, but if you’re in search of some autumnal sun, here are some essentials that should definitely be on your checklist.
These versatile pieces of clothing are perfect for the evening as well as the day. Accessorize to add something a little special if you’re heading out to a local restaurant or pack it into your beach bag to throw on once you have spent the day on the sand.
With plenty of George maxi dresses to choose from, including the chic and elegant Stud Shoulder Maxi Dress if you want to dress to impress, maxi dresses are suitcase essentials and, because of their lightweight fabric, they won’t take up much space either!
You may not choose to paddle in the sea during the autumn at home, but the warm waters of the Med and beyond continue to be inviting way into October and the cooler months. Take a piece of swimwear or two for those inevitable days by the pool.
Whether it’s a one-piece illusion swimsuit that accentuates your curves or a cute bikini that shows off your figure, choose a piece of swimwear that you’ll feel comfortable and amazing in.
If you would prefer to take some eveningwear options that don’t just include a maxi dress that doubles up as cover for the beach, opt for the trusty little black dress which will look incredible with some great heels. Pack a scarf, or pashmina, just in case the evenings are a little chilly.
Alternatively, pack a pair of wet look leggings which would look fab with those killer heels, and take a couple of options for the top half, such as a cute pussybow blouse or sleeveless chiffon top.
Sunhat & Glasses
Absolutely essential for the days on the beach and to take along on any excursions you may have booked. Sun care is essential, whether it’s a large, brimmed sunhat or just a simple peaked number. Some sunglasses with UV protection would be perfect – you don’t have to spend a fortune on designer glasses either, you can get great value alternatives which do the job too (plus, if you lose them in the sand, you won’t feel so terrible about it!)
Don’t forget the suncream either! Go for a high factor to prevent sunburn and make sure you keep it topped up throughout the day, especially if you’re dipping into the sea or pool sporadically.
You don’t have to pack half your wardrobe – you just need to be a little savvy with what you pack. Mix and match your outfits so that you can pack light and take multifunctional shoes so that you don’t have to pack every pair you own! Most of all, look forward to a holiday in the sun this autumn.
